The Challenge

Airline travel is inherently stressful — and a mobile app that adds friction makes everything worse. Delta needed a mobile experience that reduced anxiety at every touchpoint: a clear path from search to seat, real-time flight information that's actually useful, and a check-in flow that works when travelers are rushing.

The Approach

We mapped the full traveler journey — from initial trip planning through post-flight — and identified the moments where the existing app created unnecessary friction. From there, we rebuilt key flows around user mental models rather than back-end system architecture.

The redesigned app prioritized clarity and speed: a clean home screen surfacing the most relevant information for each stage of the trip, streamlined booking and check-in flows, and real-time status updates that kept travelers informed without overwhelming them.

The Outcome

The redesigned mobile experience made Delta's app one of the most intuitive in the airline industry. Streamlined flows reduced task completion time, while the clarity-first design approach significantly improved customer satisfaction scores for the digital channel.
